"Some things were meant to be.  Meeting Maggie at one of her pole walking clinics wasn’t in my plans for that sunny spring morning last May.  My mom was on her way to try her hand at the clinic when she invited me to come and watch.

To be very honest, I was sceptical about the whole thing.  I just couldn’t see how dragging around a couple of poles while walking was going to benefit anything. Well, I was wrong.  From the moment I started to glide along the walking path I was sold.  I could feel it in my arms immediately and the poles actually made me feel like I was being propelled along.  It felt natural and easy.  I could do this!!!!

The pros started flickering through my mind…I could do this anywhere, anytime.  I don’t have to pack up and drive to the gym to workout; I can just  walk out my front door.  Compared to gym memberships and fancy equipment, this was a very inexpensive investment in my health.  I began building up endurance and walking longer and further, but most of all it just felt great.

Before I started using walking poles, I felt like I was doomed to spending my life feeling mentally and physically exhausted from caring for my kids (age 4 & 2) and flopping on the couch every evening (with all that extra weight I was still carrying from pregnancy).  With my walking poles I now feel less stress, have more energy and get some well-deserved time to myself.  I feel like I’m a better person for my family."
